Adventure game set in a 70s metropolis

American Arcadia is a premium adventure game for PC by developer Out of the Blue Games. It is a 2.5D side-scroller that is set in a 70s-inspired retro-futuristic world. In it, players live in a city full of comfort and luxury, with their every action being televised for all to see.

Similar to Disco Elysium or Spiritfarer, American Arcadia is a story-driven adventure wherein player's choices matter and their actions affect how the game unfolds. The game also incorporates puzzle-solvingplatforming challenges, and even stealth elements that add to rather varied and well-rounded gameplay for players to experience.

Someone is watching

The Truman Show is a classic film about an average guy living in the city. Unbeknownst to him, he is the lead character in a reality show centered around his life, with an elaborate set populated with actors and set pieces. American Arcadia has a similar premise to the aforementioned movie. It is a game set in the titular city of Arcadia with a retro-futuristic theme during the 1970s.

This game is a 24/7 reality TV show set in a seemingly perfect metropolis. However, things are not what they seem as a drop in ratings will result in your untimely death. You'll follow the story documentary-style through interviews and police interrogations. Go on high-speed chases, overcome puzzles and platforming challenges, and even stealthily sneak around various locations as you piece everything together and learn the truth.

You will play as two different characters with contrasting situations and playstyles. There is also a more immersive first-person mode in some scenarios during your playthrough. Unfortunately, the game is not out yet, and there is also no specific release date for it either. You can check its official Steam page from time to time to get updated with the latest news and developments.

Life is but a twisted spectacle

If The Truman Show was to be made into a video game, American Arcadia is one of the ways it could turn out. The premise is incredibly similar, but there's a dark twist to its story that makes it even more intriguing. The 70s setting also melds with the narrative surprising well. This is a title that is worth keeping an eye out for.
